Stout
Stout er mørk øl brygget på ristet malt og ristet byg med noter af kaffe, kakao og brændt sukker. Stilarten udsprang af Londons porter, og den tørre irske stout ligger i dag typisk på 4–5 %. Imperial stout, historisk brygget stærk nok til at tåle transporten og ifølge overleveringen populær ved det russiske hof, ligger på 8–12 %. Havre, laktose og kaffe er almindelige tilsætninger.
